HOMEWORK-gay rights in Taiwan

In my opinion, most of people could not accept the situation in the past, especially among the middle and older generations. There are several factors cause the situation in Taiwan. First of all, people live in a closed village, and they do not contact with outside world. Besides, they do not get much more information from outside; they are norrow-mind to observe everything. People do not want to change thier original live. Thus, they think gays and lesbians are abnormal in thier mind and it is odd in thier conception. Second, there is a tradition in everybody's mind, it is so-called stereotype, the marriage is a form for men and women, not for men and men, women and women. Moreover, even in modern Taiwan, traditional ways of thinking remain rooted in minds of parents and few would be unable to accept one of their children being gay or lesbian.

Actually, I think it is not correct because the society has changed . We should respect others choice because everyone is individual and we do not have the rights to control other people. The situation in Taiwan is a little different now. More and more gays and lesbians are courageous to speak out that they are gays and lesbians; they would have the action of touching body in public. They do not mind to show they are gays because the aggressive homophobia is disappeared. Besides, even straight sex is hardly talked about among the middle and older generations. Not surprisingly, young people are now more open.
