Living in sin is cleaner
Married men don't do as much housework as live-in boyfriends. A study of more than 17,000 people across 28 countries has found that unmarried couples who live together are more likely to share the housework equally. The reason? According to sociologist Shannon Davis, co-auther of the study, "Marriage as an institution seems to have a traditionalising effect on couple-even couples who see men and women as equal. "The moral of the story? If you want your better half to pick up the vacuum, move in together but don't marry him.
