Issue-Drinking and Driving

Do you know DUI? It means driving under the influence. Briefly, if you drink, don't drive. If you drive, don't drink. It is simple. I think this kind of situation must happen commonly in every countries. Have you ever read the statistics under:

Death from motor vehicle accidents 43,000
Alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents 17,461(44% of the first total)
Cost of alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents $32.7 billion (1992)

This statistics are not surprised me because I know this accidents are common in Taiwan. It still scary me, however, that means many people have the same experiences with others. Nevertheless, no one care about the issue of drinking and driving. What can we do to reduse the rate of accidents? If you go out to drink with your friends or family. First, you can call someone else , who don't drink, to drive you home. Second, you can sleep at hotel or motel; but, it is expensive. Third, before you guys drinking, you should choose one designated driver. And the designated driver can't drink since his/her mission is to drive you guys home. In my opinion, if everyone can take notice on this issue, maybe the rate of accidents could become lower.
